SUMMER WORKS 2012

Summer Works is a fancy name for all the work that gets completed over the summer holiday (July/August).  As you know this summer we are already set to redevelop our performing arts area on the lower floor of the school (see previous blog entry for more details on this redevelopment).

Also this summer we are hoping to replace the astro turf (artificial grass) and safety matting for the playground to the right as you walk up the stairs.  This is a joint venture between the PTA and the School and recognises the fact that both the astro turf and safety matting are in need of being replaced.  Currently we are only at the tender stage of the process but we are very hopeful that both will be replaced at the end of July/early August of this year.  This is a significant cost and again we thank the PTA for agreeing to fund 50% of this project.

I can also confirm that the entrance way and parts of the external walls of the school will be painted over summer as well.  I have negotiated with ESF the painting of the entrance way and the large external wall in the lower playground (the large retaining wall on the left as you enter the school).  They have agreed to include the “Peaks” as well as retain the sun (artwork which has faded over time).  Work will also cover the cleaning of the large shade cover (canopy) and associated poles.  The back of the school will also be painted but as this is around the back (side facing the upper playground) it is unlikely to be noticed!
