LOCKDOWN DRILL – TERM 3

As you know we have a lock down every term.  This coming Thursday the 20th of July we plan to have another one.

Like last time we have informed the children of the date and the fact that we will be having a lockdown on this day.  We have reinforced to the children what the signal is and what to do once a lockdown alarm is activated.

The children may like to talk to you about this either before or after the actual event so we are giving advanced warning of the practice run.  Last time we were really impressed with how the children reacted and the school felt completely empty within 30 seconds of the alarm being activated.

Again we are taking the stance that this drill is useful should we have a rather angry squirrel or a dog the size of Mr Garnett walk onto the grounds wanting answers.  The children know to go to a place in the room where they cannot be seen or heard from outside.  They also know that the door should be locked, the lights turned off and that the room should remain completely silent and be free of movement until the “all clear” signal is given.
