I often get asked about our camp program at Peak School.  Here is a summary of what we do from year 3 to Year 6.


November 3-7 (Monday to Friday)

Who – Year 6

What – Outward Bound Camp

Cost – $4400

A presentation has already been given to the Year 6 parent body and the children.  This is the highlight of the year for our Year 6 children.  They spend five days kayaking, camping, completing team challenges, jumpy of jetty’s, hiking, building rafts and completing night challenges.

Number of teachers attending – an average of 5 for the week (plus instructors 1:6).


November 12-14 (Wednesday to Friday)

Who – Year 5

What – Year 5 Camp – Hong Kong Scout Camp – Sai Kung (on the Island opposite the Hebe Haven Yacht Club)

Venue – Wong Sui Sang Leadership Training Institute (Scout Association of Hong Kong)

Cost – $2250.

Number of teachers attending – an average of 5-6 for the 3 days (plus instructors at least 1:6).


This camp has a number of challenging elements including the highest outdoor climbing wall in HK, a number of high rope challenges, lighting fires and cooking their own meal, camping, hikes and raft building.

More information will be sent out from the classroom teachers.


November 12-14 (Wednesday-Friday)

Who – Year 4

What – Cheung Chau Camp (Bradbury Camp)

Cost – $600 (we receive a government subsidy which dramatically reduces the cost)

This camp includes nature walks, beach time, night activities, sleeping in dorms, dinner at local restaurants and exploration of the Island.

Number of teachers attending – an average of 6 for the 3 days



Who – Year 3

What – Sailing at Heebee Haven Yacht Club and Beach Day

Cost – TBC ($500-$800 approximately)

Number of teachers attending – an average of 5-6 for each day (plus sailing instructors 1:4)

This involves 2 day trips – one to Heebee Haven for a day of sailing and one to Big Wave Bay for a day at the beach which includes a range of activities such as treasure and nature hunts, fun games on the beach as well as a hike and a chance to get the feet wet.  This will be the third year of these very successful and popular day trips.



As you know the School had hoped to replace the climbing diamond with a new one.  After a lot of consultation with providers in Hong Kong, ESF and getting the views of the PTA, School Council and the Student Leaders we have committed to replacing both playgrounds at the same time.

This means that we can place a bigger and more challenging climbing frame where the current slide set is and place a more challenging and engaging slide set where the current climbing diamond is.

Please see attached below for drawings and click on the you tube links to see the type of equipment we are getting.  We have made a  conscious decision to go with challenging and engaging equipment that will have a controlled element of risk rather than wrap our children up in ‘cotton wool’ and provide equipment they will quickly get tired of as it is too easy and not challenging.

All the children have been showed the playground designs and videos and as you can appreciate they are very excited!  After the presentation I was asked by one Year 1 student if the new playground would ‘be here by tomorrow’.  It won’t be here tomorrow but the order has been confirmed meaning that when the children return from the Christmas break they should return to a new playground.

In terms of safety the staff will monitor closely the stations that need it and there will be strict rules around who can use what equipment on which days etc especially at the beginning.  There will also be rules around what each year group can do on particular stations e.g. sitting down versus standing up.
