As you know we strive for our children to be life-long learners. This ensures that the children, and our school community, appreciates that learning never stops.
We recently have two great examples of this in Jane Engelmann and Stefanie Medalla.
Jane decided to set herself a personal goal of getting her grade 8 piano and Stefanie has just completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
Result just in – Grade 8 Piano – Distinction (highest mark possible) and did all of this around the same time as “The Magic Flute”
University graduate of Upper Iowa University – Hong Kong Campus (Class of 2018)
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
Graduated Summa Cum Laude
-With Highest Honors/Distinction. Criteria for this distinction at the university is according to GPA, which should be between 3.90 and 4.00 (I graduated with a 3.98 GPA)
Completed between June 2014 and May 2018
My congratulations to them both and my thanks to them both for being great role models in our community.
Please click HERE to access the confirmed ESF academic calendar for next academic year. As a school we still need to add 4 CPD days and these will be confirmed before the end of the year.
Charlene Cann has been supporting our environmental and sustainability focus at Peak School two days a week this year. She has done a terrific job and we have achieved a great deal this year including (but not restricted to) – continuation of our successful gardening club, continuation of our parent volunteers who help in the gardens, continuation of our zero waste drive, winning the Hong Kong Flower Show and planting over 30 native trees and shrubs (grant).
Charlene has successfully won a teaching position at another ESF school next year so will be sadly leaving us at the end of this academic year. Whilst we are delighted for Charlene it does mean we now need to find someone to fill the gap that she will leave.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about the environment, can work with children, teachers and staff as well as officials from different Hong Kong departments. We are looking for someone who is organised but also flexible and can adapt to different situations that the role experiences. The successful applicant will ideally have experience or knowledge of environmental (growing plant life) and sustainability (recycling, reusing, reducing, composting).
We will shortly be advertising but I was hoping you may know someone who would be ideal for the position. If you do, please contact me.
Year 1-5 Parents only
I do hope you enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about your child’s learning at the Student Led Conferences today. We are very proud of what our children have achieved this year as are they and hopefully they did a strong job of communicating this to you.
We would be very grateful if you could take 2-3 minutes to fill in the Student Led survey. We make changes each year and some of these changes are a result of the feedback we get from our parents.
You can access the survey by clicking HERE.
